Misunderstanding and Magnets

Nujabes - Gone Are the Days ft. Uyama Hiroto

Although frightfully prevalent when in a foreign country, especially one that is grounded in a completely different language, the foundations of perspective are often at conflict between two individuals during communication.

However, language barrier or not, the invisible walls of misunderstanding remain as true as the fact of opposing magnets; our minds clashing and bouncing away from a transparent force. Every movement, gesture and oral utterance, is understood one way but perceived differently in another. No matter how hard you try, it's not possible to be fully understood and vice versa.

It's also sad when magnets fall apart. By magnets, I obviously mean the relationship of two entities, bound by energy uncharted scientifically, or any other type of perspective you wish to wear. (Metaphors are fun)

As you sift through your mental address book of names and moments, there are people you thought you could never live without, now living countries away that you don't even lift a finger for anymore. You wonder how such things occurred and where it went "wrong"?

Some people who have been so close to me seem like distant strangers now, faces and exchanges now made in a vain attempt of keeping up appearances. Through my own selfishness, the misunderstandings have allowed to envelope the relationships that once were. Although this is sounding whispy, any attempt at pointing fingers to gain some figure to this miasma of written woe will step into the pitfall of pitiful complaint. It's in hope that this whispiness can find the root of a problem rather than creating an image that creates further problems of misunderstanding, ie. the mix-up of truths and un-truths often derived from symbols, eg. Apple, Starbucks, etc..

However, sometimes the misunderstandings can be mended and through a great deal of will, power and time, third-party forces will eventually re-align the magnets... if not now, later. Although I may seem to treat you terribly, please understand that I always love you. It's just that things change and I look forward to when our paths cross again, understanding our misunderstandings.
