Boxing Day Camp Out
I went camping with some friends (first time to do so here in oz) and I expected a rough it out in the great outdoors but I guess the Aussie's have have a different definition compared to my own (I used to be a mountaineer hence I expected something extremely different!). Camping was with a 3 room tent with a bed, fridge, sink with water running out of the tap!, barbie, shower with heated water!!!, etc., etc. Not that i'm complaining but my reaction was complete shock which made for a very funny scene. Hmmm.... It was like expecting a humble hut and finding a mansion! Lol.
Another friend and I rocked up with only our sleeping bags, a couple of foldable camping chairs, some food and a couple of bottles of wine, which in my opinion is all we really need. My friend was nice enough to lend us her spare blow up futon mattress (so we didn't have to sleep on the not-really-so-hard ground) and when she asked if we brought pillows, I swear my mind went completely blank for a full minute! Geez, why didn't I think of that?! No really, I should have as we drove to the campsite so I could have brought anything I wanted!!! Grr..... I did my miss my king sized pillow last night. :(
So now, my view of camping is completely changed! And it is my friend's goal to make me camping savvy as she calls it. Hahaha. Oh well, I guess now I wouldn't think twice about going camping since I still get to sleep like a baby at night. :)
This photo of the night sky was what made this trip so memorable. Living in the city I don't get to enjoy evenings where you can see the sky light up with stars. Only thing is I had to crank up the ISO to 4000 as I didn't have my cable release so the stars are joined by a few pixels in this photo. Also, I have to say this was a lucky shot since I really couldn't see or focus on anything. Just pointed the cam upwards and voila! It was definitely a beautiful evening and the sunrise was gorgeous as well. Unfortunately, I was too comfy on my borrowed futon that all I could do was look out through the tent screen for about 2 mins then went back to sleep. Hehe.
This beautiful view is right across Flanagan's Reserve campsite (and another one).
I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas and Boxing/St. Stephen's Day!
