HMS 'Schiedam'

Yesterday, the minehunter Hr.Ms. Schiedam paid a visit to Terschelling. Since a mine exploded on the deck of a fishingvessel a few years ago, killing two crewmembers, these navy vessels have a considerable increased workload. In earlier days fishing vessels got explosives in their nets as well of course, but calling in the navy means a lot of delay in money and fish. So most of the explosives were lowered carefully back in the water. War explosives, even from the first world war, are still a major problem in the shallow north sea. Be Careful!
