A Simply Awesome day
"There are moments I will always remember, not because they were important, but because you were there."
There were so many of these special moments today:
Making waffles and spreading them with all sort of calorific syrups for breakfast.
Visiting our neighbours , exchanging gifts, indulging in nibbles and just generally having fun with our friends.
The dogs going berserk, tearing up Xmas paper, squeaking their new toys until we were all at fever pitch, Bella dognapping in the most unladylike positions,Tyler tormenting Bella and the pair of them pinching a string of sausages, proving two brains are better than one!
An afternoon Skype session for Eli and Mikey,3000 miles apart, and a brave and prolonged attempt to open their presents from each other online.
A phonecall from Leo and Scott on the ship, which brought a huge lump to my throat.
Fraz's face as he tried out his new leather lounger chair--ohhh so comfortable he could fall asleep - - - until that is, dad surprised him by switching on the inbuilt speakers!! Sheer bliss.
Eli's tears .She burst out crying uncontrollably when she read the info sheet saying her dad and I were sending her and Mikey on a holiday when he returns to U.K.- - - in the vehicle of her dreams - - - - a CAMPERVAN!!!!
But maybe the most poignant and yet somewhat AWESOME moment of the day, didn't spring from indulging in good food and wine, or opening all the presents which filled the room.It was when Fraz unwrapped his gift of a simple little book named 'Lest we Forget' (memoirs of soldier)and Eli in her most serious voice said ' I feel so lucky in so many ways.I still have you all and that is so much more important than any gifts.'
AWESOME indeed!!
Hope you have all had an AWESOME day.
