Welcome to Rio

After our late night and very wet arrival Amy and I woke to sullen skies this morning. So breakfast was indoors, though Amy's face brightened considerably when she realised champagne was on the breakfast menu!

So we thought we'd head out into the humid Rio summer to explore. In the morning we walked from our hotel to the end of the Copacabana beach and back and then in the afternoon we walked the length of Ipanema beach. It was only sat in the bar on the evening with aching feet and calves that we found out that little stroll was a good 6 to 7 miles in soft sand!

We headed to a great restaurant for tea and caiparina's (which are our favourite new cocktail).

Can't wait for the rest of the week and hopefully some sunshine.
