Retirement Picnic
Department picnic/goodbye picnic. Two of our tenured professors are retiring and an assistant professor (one step below tenured) is moving to Kentucky to a better job.
Honestly, I'm only going to miss the leaving Associate.
The associate professor leaving was the professor I taught with. He will be missed.
Regardless of whether or not I will miss them, I still wish them all well in whatever else they do, be it more teaching or a true retirement full of book-writing.
Took a bunch of pictures of the 'children' of faculty and one of the guys in the cohort brought his nephew down to play.
A bit embarrassingly, most of my shots are of the kids.
Only a few of the cohort, and fewer still of the faculty.
I was designated 'official photographer' mere minutes before the cake-cutting and card presentation.
Some good candid shots that I am unable to link to for privacy reasons. You'll just have to trust me that they're great.
Also found out that if sociology doesn't work out for me, I have a potential career in catering.
I cut cakes very well, apparently.
I still can't quite believe they trusted me with the cake knife.
*impromptu soccer game - two guys from the cohort and a professor played soccer with one of the kids.
*Such a cool swing
