Mission Possible

Beginning of the last week of the year. One of the professors I work for sent me on a mission:
I had to find out if a Research & Technology building's room 315 had a projector/computer console/etc. and an elevator (the professor is physically handicapped and has trouble climbing stairs).

Turns out it does.
On my travels, I found the above blip which I have no idea as to the identity or use of.
Also found this stair lighting, and an interesting sign...about magnets...and danger...GET ME OUT OF HERE!
