Exsultate! Rejoice!

In a wondrous change from the usual dull gray winter day here in the Pacific Northwest, there burst forth at about 3:00 pm today -- Christmas Eve -- one of the most extraordinary cloud formation progressions I have ever seen.

The most unusual ones came early in the extravaganza -- here is an example. Layer upon layer, and such a variety of textures!

Standing on our deck, I watched the clouds moving clockwise toward the north, shapeshifting rapidly. Their energy seemed to dissipate after this more linear formation.

It took a long time and lots of looking at my iPhoto file to settle on only a few images to share with you. I wish you all had been here! We could have toasted the returning sun, the joys of the Christmas season, and the bonds that Blipfoto has created among people of good will all over the world. Cheers!
