One daze at a time...

Silent night

Silent night, my fluffy bottom.
They did not go to bed until well after nine, and 3 minutes ago Luca was still awake, naked under his duvet (the pyjamas were too hot), sweating with the Christmas fever, half hallucinating from exhaustion and frenzied anticipation chewed and regurgitated and rechewed for well over three weeks now.
I expect that for them tomorrow morning will be a near mystical experience.

Aw, the poor excitable little things.

They're reinjected some Christmas magic into our lives and I find it worth all the downside of Christmas.

The day started with the feverish opening of the last window, followed by a feverish recounting of all the windows.
In the afternoon we decided to take them up the mountains in a rather vain attempt at burning all that extra energy.
Mimi by Luca
I heard the best Christmas documentary ever on Radio 1 on the way to the forest. About how Blitzen got injured last Christmas at the start of the Christmas deliveries, and Santa could not go back to the North Pole or he would not have delivered all the toys on time, and decided to leave him in the care of a family of farmers in County Wexford. They secretly looked after him for several months, until he could get better and fly again. Very convincing stuff! Especially the testimony of the kids on the farm (I thought that Mimi was a convincing fibber but these 2 kids are pro and would make it far into politics if they decided to).
I've decided not to tell the kids that we are having deer for Christmas dinner tomorrow...

Pitstop for some holly in Marley Park and mince pies and port at Pepe's (with a fire blazing and no sign of the Canadian lumberjack padded jacket. I spotted a bottle of David Beckham Elegance aftershave in Pepe's bathroom, I'll have to remember to slag him about it.)

Back home for some posh vin chaud and backing of miniature ham and emmental croissants with Nana.

Still totally hyperactive, howling Christmas songs and frothing at the mouth.

Then bath, Christmas pyjamas and toasting of arses in front of a blazing fire (today's blip).

We still have to wait to retrieve the presents from their various caches around the attic and the parent's bedroom as Luca seems to still be sweating with anxiety.

It won't be much longer now. I swear.

I love Christmas again (but it's fattening and expensive)
