Swimming Against The Tide

Chestnut Peelings

I LOVE sausagemeat and chestnut stuffing.

The Wonderspouse doesn't care for it, preferring sage and onion.

However, he roasts chestnuts, peels them, and then makes me my stuffing of preference for Christmas day! Bless him!

So, today is Christmas Eve and all that.

The Wonderspouse has been planning his cooking schedule for tomorrow - his great pleasure at Christmas is to cook, which is fine by me!

We went into town this "morning" (morning in the loosest sense of the word, since we didn't eat breakfast until midday owing to a lie in) to pick up the goose and a few last minute bits and bobs.

Bits and bobs of washing, tidying, and so on this afternoon!

Then, this evening, the great excitement of seeing Henry at 5 weeks!

And tonight we shall go to bed quietly, knowing that we both have what we really want for Christmas - a quiet day with each other and our furry family, for him - a whole load of food to cook and meals to plan, and for me - a couple of young rodents who will be moving in when they are ready to leave their mums! Not really stuff that can be put in stockings, but since we both wear ankle socks, that's probably just as well!

All pretty good really!

Very Happy Christmas to all you lovely blip people. Thank you all for the comments this year, and your forebearance when I've been too busy to reciprocate!

Greetings from our whole family:

Humans: Me & the Wonderspouse
Felines: Felix, Tiggy, Pebbles, Smudge & Dexter
Rodents: Charlie, Moses, Laura & Robbie
Rodents arriving soon: George & Henry
