Say cheese!

I haven't been blipping much recently, and a lot of that is down to the amount of running I've been doing in preparation for the Dubai marathon on the 27th Jan (the mid-life crisis continues unabated...). Today I took my camera with me on my morning run around Business Bay, a place with fascinating and completely off the wall architecture.

This 22 storey building is officially called 0-14 but we call it the Swiss Cheese building. It's all part of the madness of the Dubai property bubble where buildings had to try and stand out.

What the developers didn't expect though, is that the exoskeleton has had a completely unexpected side effect of causing a slight vacuum and allowing cool air to filter through the holes of the concrete wall. This forces the hot air up and away from the inner tower, reducing the cooling costs by 30 per cent. Maybe this is the future of all buildings in hot countries?
