New beds!
Did a little Christmas shopping last night with my old bird... Hello new cat and dog beds! Typically enough Luka went straight to his old bed and watched in disgust as Sawyer kneaded himself into a trance right in the middle of the new dog bed. Anyway, this picture was meant to show Jack having his turn in Luka's supposed bed, but Luka rushed over as soon as he saw the camera was out. So here we have a dog in the cat bed and a cat in the dog's. Pretty much how things go in this household.
In other news, following very recent events (seriously, the bruises are coming up faster than I can type this), I feel it is my duty to relay the following observation. Under NO circumstances should cycling ever be considered a suitable Scottish winter activity.
Just took Luka out for a walk/ run with my bike. Not for any particular reason, I just felt like a change. Got down to our normal walking spot (an old ex-railway line that runs from Aberdeen to Banchory) and was immediately stopped by a woman who warned me it was super icy on the path. I laughed her warning off and said cycling would probably be safer than walking. Bah, the worst thing is I actually believed this! Got about halfway to the llama field where I was planning to turn around when I had a little skid along the solid ice path (no kidding, it was like trying to cycle on a superlong ice rink). Righted myself and breathed a sigh of relief. Then I slipped again. I like to think it was one of my more graceful falls, the bike and I slid several metres across the path in perfect harmony. Tried to stand up quickly to avoid embarrassment - luckily there was nobody around - and promptly fell again. Not so graceful the second time round.
After checking myself for injury I set off again with a damaged bum and equally bruised pride. Got to the llamas, Luka wanted to go further but I wasn't having any of it. After chilling on a bench for a few minutes I got up to set off again. Just in time for a hopelessly handsome man to appear with his ultragoofy golden retriever. Now Luka is a bit of a wuss and doesn't normally bother with other dogs, but he fell in love with this one. Her owner tried calling her away, which didn't work. In the end I tried to set off, knowing Luka would follow. Sadly so did the retriever, only she decided to jump out right in front of my bike. Cue another epic slide across the path. Luckily I didn't fall completely off this time round and with flaming red cheeks I made my wobbly escape.
