Aquamarine/Nanna K's Day

Julbocken

More lights. Had fun playing around with some "bokeh" photos. This is the straw Yule goat, a traditional Swedish Christmas decoration that somehow got from being the goat that the God Thor rode, to being the gift bearer at Christmas. They were a gift from our Swedish relatives many years ago and we love unpacking them along with many other Swedish treasures.

No school for 2 weeks. H and I thought we'd take the 3 older grandchildren to the movie "Hugo" only the other 2 kids (their Dads) wanted to go too so we 7 went to this charming film about George Melies and his magic and film art. Only we didn't see the 3D version - thought it would be too much for our 6 year old , who actually knew the book which is more than I did but now am anxious to see- it's the first novel to win a Caldicott award for the illustrations. And I didn't know about George Melies either - H had his first film about a trip to the moon (the first science fiction film ever made- in 1902) in a movie projector he had as a kid. (But he didn't know the movie was about it!) Very fun. I'd recommend seeing it in 3D I think.
