Village street, Palterton

Palterton is on the edge of the hillside overlooking the Doe Lea valley. There are fine views across the valley to the edge of the Peak District rising beyond to the west. Eastwards, a plateau gradually descends into Nottinghamshire and eventually the Trent valley.

It was cloudy all day, with rain eventually moving in by lunchtime, but only briefly heavy. It's getting milder, with the ice from the weekend melting away.
