Gloomy heron

I forgot to take my old camera out with me yesterday; perhaps because I'd heard a hint that I might be getting a new one for my birthday today - and so I did. Thank you, DaveH!

We both took a day off work and despite the rain we got a bus up to the Dean village and walked back home along the Water of Leith. It was extremely muddy in parts and in other parts the footpath was closed as they're still doing immense and disruptive workings along the river - flood defences plus a huge sewerage pipe.

The heron was looking rather morose. I suppose there's lots of disruption to his favourite river bank and the Greek restaurant in Canonmills where he used to call in for calamari has closed down. Luckily we still have a wide choice of eateries that we can choose from in Leith!
