Blood-spattered gorefest
We've been to see a production of Little Red Riding Hood this afternoon. It was aimed at quite young childern and was very good. The set was very clever and so was the way they lit up different bits of the stage to tell different bits of the story. Rather than being a straight re-telling of the story it was based around two children sleeping over at their grandma's and telling/acting out the story with each other. The girl had nicked some doughnuts from downstairs and each time the wolf ate someone they just ate some of the doughnuts (smearing the jam - blood! - around their mouths) and the story returned to the world of the children from the world of little red riding hood.
Don't think I've explained that very well but it was clever I thought! And was a good way of relating what is a pretty horrific and gory tale to young children.
We went with some friends and they came round for tea after and brought us some doughnuts!
