Santa Express

2years 58days

We have had a FABULOUS day. A brilliant time. We had a mummyandkatie morning to start the day - I had booked us tickets to see the Wiggles' Christmas movie at the cinema. She is getting the hang of the cinema, and walked confidently in, not worried about going in to the dark. She asked if she was seeing Wiggles or Pussy Cat as the last time we went to this particular cinema, we saw Postman Pat's movie. She was so good, sitting for most of it, dancing for bits of it and had a great time. She gets so excited every time Captain Feathersword comes on screen! Best bit for mummy though was that at the end there was a banner on the screen saying "The Wiggles will be touring the UK in May&June 2012". Bring it on!!

The rest of the day has been a very special day, we've had such a good time. We took Katie to the National Railway Museum to the Santa Steam Adventure. It was so good, done so enthusiastically and so well. We walked through "Santa's Delivery Yard", lots of huge train carriages full of presents, toys, moving animals. This led out to the platform where we got on this sweet little steam engine. There were no seats in the carriage, everyone sat snuggled on the floor in Christmas blankets, and were welcomed by two very jovial grandad type gents who told lots of jokes. They did a story for the children, about the sleigh being broken down so Father Christmas needing the train to do his Christmas magic and exploring the world to help. The train set off then "broke down" - the children all helped to try fix it with plastic tools, which didnt work, then all did "magic" with jingle bells. It brought Santa, fixed the train and set us back off again. Santa was the most brilliant Father Christmas I've seen in a long time and had all the children totally enthralled. Katie got a beautiful book from him, then we all had a very leisurely cup of tea and mince pie in the restaurant.

We pottered round the museum a bit longer - Katie's favourite train of the place was a rideon Thomas that you find in lots of supermarkets! We then took Katie for her first Chinese meal out. We went to a buffet restaurant and had a gorgeous 4 course meal. Its lovely food, great helpful staff and they were really considerate about Katie, who of course charmed them all.

I'd taken her jammies and within ten minutes, she was fast asleep in the car, and now is snuggled in her bed. A good day.
