Primal

Nothing like a failure of civilization (central heating) to force you to reconnect to the primal feeling part of life. Our heating system failed today and forced us to relight the fire. The feeling of the cold was invigorating (if challenging) and the contrast with the warmth of the real fire was enlivening. Co-incidentally watching "The Way" on DVD seemed to remind of what is important. Sheltering oneself from the world, through "central heating" and many other things seems impoverishing in terms of what it is to live. New Year, new beginnings?
