Seatter

A short walk around the countryside near Kirkwall. I headed past Berstane and down to the bay there. Lots of common seals were on the shore. They always give you such a sad look as they slip into the water, as if they think you should feel very guilty for disturbing them.

Not all of them went in, though, the wiser ones recognised that I was no threat. There were masses of greylag geese in the fields and a little group of pied wagtails around Seatter farm, which is at the top of the road pictured. Most of our wagtails have left for warmer areas.
