40 years ago on this day

Forty years ago today young Talpa the elder was born in the Fijis, in the middle of a tropical tempest. There was, of course, great rejoicing throughout the land; dancers danced, drums were drummed, salutes were fired etc etc.

In reality, I left the maternity hospital to find that I had left on the car lights, the battery was stone dead, and I had to walk the 5 miles home, in the heat of the tropical summer.
