Surprise Skate...

I got a wee phone call this afternoon that changed my night. I'd forgotten that we'd agreed to run a christmas skate jam for the indoor park in East Kilbride.

It was a great night with some absolutely brilliant skating going down.

This is Sean Willis who won the best trick of the night with an AlleyOop** transfer. This was my favourite trick of the night. Sean is doing a fakie indy nosebone## here if I remember right. Totally smooth and perfectly executed.

**With a normal air in skateboarding, you go up out and across the ramp and turn the direction that you are headed across the ramp. So if the air goes across the ramp left to right, you do clockwise rotation so you always see where you are going. With an AleyOop, you rotate the reverse of the natural arc of the air. Going left to right across the ramp means alleyoop'ing it is to turn anti-clockwise and essentially be going backwards through the air at one point in the air.

##Fakie is going backwards, Indy is the grab that he is doing, trailing arm grabbing the board between the legs in front of you, and Nosebone is the pushing of the front foot forward to 'tweak' the air. So he went up the ramp backwards, aired out the top, grabbed the board like so and pushed his front foot forward just to give it a little bit extra style. Was sweet.
