Water of Leith @ Warriston
I actually took this photo yesterday (or something very like it) in slightly more propitious light. But yesterday's version, although eminently blippable, was superseded by the solemn Santa (my pal @rjwilliams44). Today's photo was taken when we went along to the supermarket for essential supplies (gin and whisky) and a few random snacks for extras. Here you can see the flood works intended to protect the good folks of Warriston Crescent, who suffered a nasty flood in 2005 or 2006, not long after we arrived in Edinburgh.
Building up the hoards of food and alcohol for when the hungry horde arrives. One hungry horde had evidently already arrived. The link is to a very blurry picture of a blackbird and something grey (waxwing? - corrected on Twitter - apparently that's a Redwing) chomping on the berries in the tree in a garden right opposite the supermarket carpark.
Now waiting anxiously for the arrival of the purchases made over the last few days. Let's hope the postal and delivery systems are in better shape than they were last year.
