Spider's lair

This amazing construction was on the edge of a footpath, how it hadn't been trodden on was a mystery.
Dropped bits of grass seed head on the web and lured him (her?) out, but when he discovered it was humans mucking about he dashed back in and wouldn't come out again.

Nice day walking along the Walton backwaters, unfortunately the grass pollen poleaxed me by the afternoon and I had a very unpleasant hour walking back to the van and the eye drops.....
