Went to my local food group event tonight in Edinburgh: two great talks given by two local women - one about guerrilla gardening and the other about kids and nature. Both interesting and inspiring in different ways. Some amazing pictures of projects in America where kids have been getting their hands dirty and learning about growing flowers and veg.

Some interesting discussion followed about kids in UK schools and how a lot of them don't get to play freely in nature and if they do get to play outside at all, it's all Health & Safety restraint. One woman told us that her child hadn't been allowed out at school one day because the grass was a bit wet and she might slip. Wtf?! Hopefully,if I have kids one day, they'll not be held back by the same crazy rules and will be allowed to play with freedom.

There was also mulled wine, mince pies and hot butter cider - amazing!
