The Venice of the East...

is actually how Alleppey, pictured, is known.

There are lots of canals, as above, choked with the invasive plant, water hyacinth. Not quite like Venice.

There are numerous watercraft, plying the navigable canals, taking people for boat rides. Very much like Venice.

There are interesting smells drifting around. Very much like Venice in the height of summer, I am led to believe.
