Evening Grossbeak!

What a thrill it was today to see this large flock of evening grossbeaks at the birdfeeder! In the 3 years i have been here, I haven't seen this many of these lovely colourful birds. When i lived in Muskoka, we had an old card table that we put out in the winter with bird seed on it. To see a flock of these yellow and black birds was always so exciting.....they are so skitterish...one small move and they are gone.

We had a lunch visit from Terry's sister, Jodie and her friend Jean! while siting at the table we were entertained by this gang of birds. Knowing they would scatter the moment i moved, i waited till they were gone to go get my camera.....needless to say, just then they returned! There were suggestions of me crawling along the floor to get to the window without disturbing them!!! i didn't think i could do that very elegantly, so i took my chances! they did scatter, but they returned a few more times!
