A Small Gift

Parking is free in downtown Bellingham during the holiday shopping season. It's not a big money-saver for a short visit -- parking only costs 75c (about 50p) per hour. Of course, if you're inclined to overstay your welcome and incur parking tickets, the savings are more substantial.

At most locations the maximum allowable time is two hours. If the Y parking lot is full (as it so often is) I park on the street. When pickleball has me in its throes I'm sometimes late returning to my car. I got a ticket a few weeks ago, but not for parking too long. I'd forgotten to renew my license tabs.

I hope I can remember to start paying again after Christmas.
