Clearing the flood drain

The flood drainage channel that runs through the business park where I work gets choked with phragmites reed every summer and has to be cleared so that it can fulfil its purpose.

I thought the council had forgotten it but they turned up today and cleared the whole length in one day. Little egrets feed in it sometimes since it's been cleared.
