Catching the Sun Rise
This is the new home of the School of Health Studies on campus, and has been one of the more successful new builds in Bradford over the past couple of years. It's certainly enriched the streetscape of the Great Horton Road, and was officially opened by Dame Tanni-Grey Thompson last month. Those interested in the architecture can read about it in Architect's Journal.
This morning I was arriving to work just as the sun was peeping over the eastern brow of the bowl that the city sits within. The blaze of morning light is caught in the reflection, and in the warm glow of the wood, the cladding and the tree. The shadow trees look better later in the morning, when the sun has risen higher, but the colour is great first thing.
The sun rise is continuing to get a little later each morning, although sunsets have reached their earliest point, and we'll now be starting to slowly gain our daylit afternoons back.
I thought I was overdue a sun-drenched image, after yesterday's black and white rainbow. I've now posted a colour image of the rainbow for those of you that wanted the 'before' picture. Many thanks for all the comments, which drew out the story of the picture a bit more fully than ususal.
