From Radio to Satellite

One shot today and this is it.

Whilst doing the teacherly thing I found out that, on this day in 1961, the Relay 1 satellite was launched, which went on to transmit the first transpacific television signals.

Clearly December is a good month for the development of communications.

About 5 minutes into my walk to work it had started raining. Rain and cold wind combined to freeze my face and the back of my legs. I had passed the point of no return and it was too blowy for an umbrella so I had to accept my fate.
