Aye Spy

One of many

I decided to take Bruce to a different but favourite place to walk today. It was cold but bright and sunny and I parked in the car park very close to the start of the walk. As soon as I stepped out of the car, I must have resembled one of the tap dancers in "Top Hat" - only not nearly so elegant! The car park was covered in black ice, and both Bruce and I were slithering about trying to keep upright!

After that bit of excitement, we set off along Lady Mary's Walk, very muddy and squelchy in places ( Bruce doesn't mind that at all ). The first part of the walk is alongside the River Turret, which has made its way from the Turret Reservoir, past the Glenturret Distillery, and through Macrosty Park, meandering along quite gently until it reaches the River Earn.

Just before I reached the point where the two rivers join, I found the path blocked by this fallen tree. Weeks of heavy rain has softened the ground and the soil around tree roots. The fierce gales of the last few days have blown many huge trees down and this was one of many which succumbed to the force of the wind.

It was possible to scramble up the banking and around the fallen branches to regain the path. It is always so sad to see trees down in this way. We walked on, along the main path beside the fast flowing River Earn.

Bruce loves chasing sticks and today there was plenty of choice.
