Candy Canes

Visited the local sweetie shoppe in Greenwich this morning and the window was just brimming full of multi-coloured candy canes and lollipops for Christmas. It was such a bright and colourful display, I decided to add a bit of artificial snow and post a photo of the window .
It took me back to my childhood, with the shop full of old fashioned boilings sat in rows of sweetie jars, mint humbugs, peanut brittle, jelly beans , puff candy, sherbet fountains, liquorice strips, you name it they stocked it.
Reminded me of the song 'The Candy Man,' written by Anthony Newly and Leslie Bricusse , and sung originally by Sammy Davis Jnr.in 1972.

Who can take a sunrise
Sprinkle it with dew
Cover it with choc'late and a miracle or two?
The Candy Man
Oh, the Candy Man can .
The Candy Man can 'cause he mixes it with love,
And makes the world taste good.

Who can take a rainbow
Wrap it in a sigh
Soak it in the sun and make a groovy lemon pie?
The Candy Man
The Candy Man can .
The Candy Man can 'cause he mixes it with love,
And makes the world taste good.

Oh, who can take tomorrow
Dip it in a dream
Separate the sorrow and collect up all the cream?
The Candy Man
Oh, the Candy Man can.
The Candy Man can 'cause he mixes it with love.
And makes the world taste good.
