Picturedrome, Holmfirth

The Picturedrome is one of my favourite venues. It's quirky and compact with different levels from which you can watch the band. Holmfirth is a pretty Yorkshire village, reached from Manchester via a sometimes hair-raising drive over the moors.

The hotel we stayed at was next door to the venue. Exhausted by a very late night in Preston, I went for a lie-down during the afternoon and was thrilled to be able to hear the soundcheck through my open window. Sometimes moments in life are just perfect - and that was one of them.
