Calm waters
As I entered Coxs Bay Park on my run this morning I was greeted by the sight of the tide high and a number of walkers and a jogger on the footpath by the road in front of the bay. All had changed by the time I got the camera out and turned on. I headed over to the footpath and took this view of the bay, looking west.
In the far distance is West Harbour, where the large marina is full of expensive boats, somewhat like in the Viaduct area. Here in this bay, the boats are moored to buoys, and spend a large part of the time on the mudflats which are exposed from mid tide to mid tide. In the absence of any significant wind this morning, the water is almost still, as the tide had yet to turn. The sun was providing really lovely light.
My day was fully occupied with assessments and reports, the last of the latter needing to be in the local Courier Post depot by 6 pm. Got it there by 5:55. Able to relax and pack up to go home. On the way I stopped at Grey Lynn village to get the mail, and ran into the market evening.
I was very tempted to post as my blip a photograph outside the Grey Lynn Butcher, where a barbecue was merrily cooking sausages for sale. The photograph was moderate quality; the significance was that it showed cheerful young people cooking and selling sausages (freshly made in the butchery) to willing customers. Presently they can do so without needing certification that they are hygienic and therefore safe. A process that is about to made a legal requirement by the Parliament, based on no evidence whatsoever that such sales cause any harm. Meanwhile bars can sell as much toxic alcohol as they wish.
Home to be asked by Daughter J to cook some kumara for her dinner; willingly undertaken along with some pork strips and salad. And a nice Gimblett Gravels Syrah. Thus a late blip, and then off to bed, before a weekend of agenda reading. At the beach at least.
