Night Drive

Today has been dominated by fierce winds and driving rain, and little relief from that.

As evening fell, the cloud began to break a little, affording glimpses of the near full moon. By the time I'd reached home, there was enough open sky to see Jupiter joining the Moon in their current conjunction.

We're just a couple of days away from a lunar eclipse, although we'll only see a partial eclipse in the UK, which will be happening as it rises on Saturday 10th. This will be from 15:30ish in the far north-east, 15:45 in Bradford and 16.30ish in the far south-west. The eclipse will be over by 16:18, so you'll need to be alert. Of course we may all be buried in snow clouds at that time.

This image has the Moon and Jupiter viewed from 7yo's bedroom window. With a bit more patience,and a bit less of a howling gale, I probably could have got a sharper, better exposed image, but it was somebody's bedtime, and the curtains needed to be drawn.

This is the same vantage point I used for my October sunrises, although they were focused more toward the bottom left of this wider image.
