Grey Francolin (Francolinus pondicerianus)

Woke up to another beautiful day in Maui...actually saw the sunrise as we went out for an early morning walk! Before you could count to 10 I was stopping every 50 feet to take a photo and Bob headed on without me. All the better as I wanted to take my time ;))

We have seen these birds for years, but had no idea what they were called. They are quite shy and are constantly scurrying off, so I felt lucky to get two shots which weren't blurred! It is amazing how their feathers create such a beautiful design, and they really are quite beautiful against the foliage.
