Prototype

This is a prototype I built for a display panel for displaying my framed photos at craft fairs.

It was one of those occasions where I missed being able to ask my father for advice on what to do. My father was carpenter he died just over 4 years ago on Thanksgiving week while I was away even further away than usual, on vacation with my wife and LBG who was back then only 6 months old. He only got to see her on one visit when she was about 3 months old. 2-3 weeks after he died he and my mother were due to come stay for about a month for LBG's first Christmas and our last Christmas in Connecticut. A few months later we moved 100 miles to New Jersey, my father never saw where we live now, never saw little monster and didnt leave me any plans for building display panels he didnt know would need four years later for the photography that he never knew I would start selling. I wonder what he would make of the design?

I am not exactly experienced at building things myself. I dont even own a saw, so I got for this project I either bought the wood at the right size or got it cut in the store. I had to come up something based on what I could see at the hardware store. The design I came up with needed to be lightweight, cheap, easy and simple to build.

Those huge triangular feet are large enought hat I have since added two other panels to the side that I just clamp to the side of this central one with clips, those huge feet support all three pretty steadily. I have also built two others that I use freestanding, they have much more subtle feet made using a few lengths on 2x1.I have the wood to replace the feet on the prototype and add them to the two side panels, which I may well do... those feet are going to be easy to trip over.
