Festive jollity

The evening's entertainment started early with Campbell's school group's festive show. This had been produced over only 4 weeks - the kids researched, planned, wrote, directed, produced choreographed and performed the whole thing themselves.

They packed a whole load into 60 minutes. Singing, dancing, acting, pantomime, puppet show, music quiz and a news report style run down of the major festive events over the last century. Campbell is seen in the photograph as the Grinch in the pantomime. (no green makeup due to fast costume changes).

Excellent stuff, really enjoyed it. So good to see kids being creative and even better to see that the staff are't afraid to let them be so. The event was best summed up by a friend of Campbell's - "It was Muppet Show surreal."

After that we had festive tea at the chip shop. And then we continued the evening at the pantomime, Cinder-ella-ella. Got to admire the professionalism of Orkney's am dram companies. Always a great night out, this one was one of the best I've seen.

To top a good day off - we have a short term coal and wood supply, the septic tanks cleared, the pipes are flushed oot and celebrations followed. Tis the season to be jolly!
