Granny Annie

War time memories.

Today I was looking for something in a box of memories that belonged to my mother, when I came across this picture and poem. A broken frame, cracked glass and a bit of dirt, but the words meant so much.
As I've said before, my father served on submarines, and it must have taken quite an effort to obtain this picture, and then send it to my mother.
On the back is written, From your ever loving hubby.
Many, many Happy Returns of the day
and a kiss for each year.
Then there are 27 kisses.
I was three years old, and had never seen my father, so you can understand why it meant so much to my mother, that she kept it for 45 years.
