Swimming Against The Tide

Kasabian Gig

Finally managing to catch up on blips. This one, and the next few, are being uploaded on Wednesday 7th December because I've been too exhausted or busy or ill to do them on the days they were blipped. I'll try and write them up as I would have done on the day though.

We woke fairly late this morning, got up, had pancakes, then packed our overnight bags and headed up to Nottingham. The drive was easy, and pleasantly sunny and dry, and we were installed in a cheap hotel in Nottingham by lunchtime!

It was wonderful to be away. We so rarely travel these days (having done a lot in the past) that it now feels like a real treat to be away, just the two of us, getting a respite from all the chaos and busy-ness going on at home.

We spent the afternoon wandering around the Christmas market in the town centre, picking up a hot sandwich for lunch, and browsing the stalls. Then, after a snooze in the room, and a burger for supper, we set out for the main event - Kasabian's Gig at the arena.

It was fabulous, which was good, since, owing to lack of funds, it's the only gig we're going to this winter. We arrived as Me were finishing their set, then heard Miles Kane, then the main event!

It was a FANTASTIC gig. Great great set, brilliant atmosphere, beer flying everywhere (as you might expect at a Kasabian gig - but we go dressed for such eventualities) and, as usual, brilliant stuff. The setlist is here for those who are interested!

Afterwards we were very very glad we'd decided to stay, since we were utterly exhausted. We went back to our room, dined on beer and baklava, then fell asleep for 10 solid hours!

There are a few more pictures from the day, all of which I might have blipped, in my blipfoto extras album!
