Leaving it to a pro
The honor of being the only tree in my otherwise sun-scorched back yard falls to a honey locust, which, after three years of crazy growth, needed and got a proper pruning today. It always looked like ballerina, on one toe and with the other leg high up in the air. Not any more. That leg is now gone. Sad, but I was told by Kevin that one has to administer tough love to a tree if you want it to flourish. He reminded me a bit of me as a kid; climbing, jumping, swinging and generally enjoying being up in a tree.
Making and having lunch with favorite ones today was, as always, wonderful. Cream of potato/leek soup with sandwich*
PS. How do you get a three year old to eat her crunchy, steamed, buttered green beans? You pretend that the bean is the brush, the hummus is the cleaner and she has to scrub her tongue with the cleaner but not eat the brush under ANY circumstances. It is, in fact, forbidden to eat the brush, which makes the bean terribly desirable.
*lettuce, tomato, grilled pepper and portabella mushrooms, red onion, feta on ciabatta bread with a home made hummus and mayo.
