Great Western Railcar no. 22 undergoes some unspecified repairs, carrying the unmissable red disk that is self-explanatory.
The GWR logo on the front refers to the Great Western Railway, although real enthusiasts have been known to aver that it stands for God's Wonderful Railway.
Built between 1940 and 1941, this is one of only three still in existence. The rest of their story is here. There is a pic of the restored 22 clearly showing it's very square lines at the top of the page.
22 lives at the Great Western Railway's museum at Didcot, about an hour outside London. As modern diesel passenger trains hurtle past the centre en route to the midlands and south west, a lone steam locomotive trundles up and down, the focus of everyone's attention on a steam drivers' training day. A pity I can post only one pic.
Learning to drive a steam train. What a way to pass the day - I think I'll mention it to the Mrs next time she mentions birthdays ;-)
