This always poses me such a dilemma....when i see her munching down on something dead! Here she is, after we came upon a very strange situation on our road! Three dead grouse.....heads off, guts hanging out....there was still quite a bit of these birds untouched....maybe one had been totally eaten, but the other two only partially, and they looked pretty fresh. What could have been the situation here!!
Hunters, too drunk perhaps to realise they had left half their load....coyotes, disturbed whilst in the midst of a feast! I have no idea, but when i saw Zoe chowing down on a piece of bird my initial reaction was to tell her to drop it, move away....don't do what you are naturally meant to do!!!
As i continued to walk, i called on her to come with me...but no way was she leaving this feast! I thought about how we deal with situations seen and unseen, and how we can't do anything when the situation is unseen! She no doubt finds all sorts of dead things in the forest when i'm not with her, so why is it i so want to bring her back to her domestic status? One of her favorite treats is the raw skin from the chicken we cook...she gets that ecstatic look on her face!!!

so i continued my walk, and when i returned to the same place, about 45 minutes later, there was nothing left....no Zoe in sight, and only a few feathers remained of this strange carnage! She'd completely demolished what had been left of 2 and half grouse! when she finally came home she looked mightly pleased with herself and was still licking her lips!
