Globalisation Arrives!

A momentous day in Daugavpils. Latvia's first McDonald's restaurant to be situated outside of Riga opened on 18th November Street, at the junction with Viestura Street.

There was a band playing to VIPs and journalists before the plebs were let in from the sleet outdoors, to be given free fries and other gifts. No longer will our good citizens have to settle for Finnish wannabes Hesburger, instead they can stagger across Daugavpils' busiest highway at all hours and enjoy a «??? ???», perhaps while enjoying the car fumes on the roadside patio.
