Day 102: Twinkle twinkle...

This is one that really needs to be seen it as large as possible. It's a very subtle image, and it loses something every time it's downsized.

When you're photographing stars with a wide angle lens, you're at the mercy of the resolving power of the glass. If the glass has poor resolution, then smaller stars will simply disappear. The Tamron 18-270mm has done pretty well here. You can even pick out the double stars that usually appear as a single spot to the naked eye, making up the handle of the Big Dipper.

I've managed to lose a remote during the course of my travels, so I'm sadly not able to use bulb mode until I can source a replacement. That's the reason that you've not seen any large sweeping trails from me yet. Hopefully someone will put in a good word with Santa?
