Nativity shocker!!! Wise Men in sheep debacle!
Today has been the first blast of winter. No snow for us this far east but the wind is certainly what's known as a 'lazy wind' round here. It goes straight through you rather than around you.
Rather foolishly thought I take a walk down by the river this morning to see if there were any blip worthy shots. Didn't get further than the Quay. It was absolutely perishing!!!
Did take some shots of the ducks though. Someone had put some food down for the group of Muskovy Ducks (Cairina moschata). Strange looking birds. We had 2 at school when I was around 12 years old - along with goats, chickens and bees.
They can, of course, be considered a pest in some parts and in the US are classed as an invasive species. Originating in Mexico and Central America the domesticated variety is the culinary Barbary Duck.
Their plummage is extraordinarily beautiful when you look closely. Some have iridescent blues and greens almost like a Peacock. Then there are the creams, greys and lavenders. Of course the humble Mallard can be quite spectacular too if you look closely.
So I had my blip and made my way into town for something warming to thaw me out. Decided to pop into church with a takeaway tea and some hot chips from the cafe across the road.
These knitted Nativity figures are quite popular (I've made them in the past) but they do remind me of Michael Bentine's Potty Time!! The way these had been arranged and the facial expressions made me giggle and I just had to use it for my blip.
Caption anyone?!?!?
