The Dennistoun Milestone

I have passed this sculpture many times but have not stoped to read the inscription so i did today as i was at a meeting and had some time to kill it reads 'The Dennistoum Milestone , Commissioned by Dennistoun Community Council for Glasgow's year of culture 1990 - Sponserd by W.D & H.O.Wills , Artist Jim Buckley - Glasgow Sculpture Studioes, Unveiled by The RT Hon The Lord Provest of Glasgow Mrs Susan Baird CBE OSTJ JP D Univ , 26.9.91.
I have been told that it represents the tenaments that used to dominate the Glasgow landscape in the area .
