As part of Mel's business course, her group set about organizing a wintermarket which gradually reduced down to a bake sale outside the student's union as they hit upon more and more barriers.

Their vision kicked off with Christmas lights, stollen, gluhwein and local producers with stalls and Nathan and Jamie playing a medley of Xmas songs over 2 days. But you have to jump through so many licensing & health and safety hoops and as soon as you add alcohol in to the mix it gets unbelievably complex.

Mel and her stall partner Lou were on the first shift. Lou showed all the tenacity of a Young Apprentice accosting every passer by to come and buy - all proceeds to "Help the Children".

They had to share stall space with students gathering signatures to protest about Volkswagen being the least green car maker - One dressed as a storm trouper.

Think it all worked out and served its purpose.
