Nuthatch

Today's the day .......................... for a surprise visit

Several years ago, a pair of nuthatches nested in one of the nestboxes in our front garden. We couldn't believe our luck to have such lovely, unusual birds so close to us. They successfully raised several little ones and then disappeared as mysteriously as they had arrived.

Occasionally we would see them on the big old oak tree on the nearby green. I think that's where they used to nest - until the oak tree was cut down a few years ago.

Today there seemed to be lots of birds out and about in the garden and - completely out of the blue - this nuthatch appeared on the peanut feeder. A real treat and nice to know that they are still around somewhere nearby .....................
