Ready.... Set..... GO!

Today I took part in the Womens Sculpt 6km walk/run. It's an annual event but this is the first time I've ever taken part in an organised event like this.

I took this photo when we were all pouring out from the start line at Britomart in the city centre of Auckland. Almost 3,000 women in total took part today.

I did it with a friend and we had arranged it many months ago. Back then I had visions of being fit again and when this week rolled around far too quickly, I had a mild panic I wouldn't actually manage it.

We walked at a very moderate pace yet talked most of the way.
I had my heart rate monitor on and kept a decent rate up.
I was quite pleased with myself for doing it.
There were women of all ages, sizes and fitness levels taking part which was just brilliant.

Next year we plan to run at least half of it. I think I might even be real keen and aim for running the whole way! Got to set my goals for next year soon... So we shall see!
